Supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families
we are community.
The Brood is a Cincinnati-based worshipping community for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. We aim to be radically inclusive and follow in the way of Jesus. We are a ministry of Calvary Episcopal Church in the heart of Clifton. Join us!
We are radically inclusive
No matter what your family constellation looks like, you are welcome here. We are LGBTQ+ affirming, trauma-informed, and strive to be mindful of the ways that injustice and oppression impact individuals and families. While we don’t and won’t always get it right, we are building a community of inclusion and belonging, with God’s help.
We are relational
The best indicator of the health of our community is the depth and diversity of the relationships we have. We aim to honor the lived experiences of first families, adoptees, and current and former foster youth. We take seriously the commitment to include and learn from a variety of voices and perspectives.
Our faith connects us
We look to Jesus as the supreme example of faithful living. We are a resurrection people: we acknowledge the grace in our everyday lives and look for signs of new life in our midst. We pray for each other, worship together, and explore big questions of faith and life together. We also wrestle with doubts, express lament, and encourage critical engagement with scripture and tradition.
