Sharon Grayton

I’m Sharon Grayton. While I grew up in the Methodist tradition, I came to Calvary at the invitation of a school friend and have now been a member of Calvary for over 35 years. My husband Daren and I were married here and our son Avery grew up here in Godly Play and Youth Group.

In my years at Calvary, I’ve participated in various activities and ministries. When our son was younger, I volunteered some with the youth and went with him to help the Common Friars at Good Earth Farms. At different times I’ve helped with VBS, Tender Mercies, and Laundry Love. I was on the Parish Profile committee. I’m in my third year of EFM study/fellowship and I’ve just completed my first 3-year term on Vestry. Since I first came through the doors with my friend, I’ve been most involved in the choir. The beauty of the music and the depth of the words it brings to life continue to touch me and inform my worship.

I work at the Cincinnati Symphony where I am Data Services Manager. That basically just means I make sure that things are set up so that transactions are smooth and accurate. And reportable. I run lots of reports.

When I get a chance, I like to do some needlework, like quilt-making and cross-stitch.

When we worked on the Parish Profile, the overarching theme was “All are Welcome Here”. Over my years here, I’ve seen that go beyond words and become more and more part of our reality as a family. I’m so glad to be part of this family. I hope to continue to grow here in faith and service.

Kyle Jenkins

I’m married to Taylor Jenkins and we have two children, Zoey and Jamie. We live in Clifton and have been part of Calvary for a little over a year. Vestry will be my first official position at Calvary. However, we’ve served at different churches throughout the years, including a regular volunteer rhythm in Kids Club at Crossroads and helping to start a small church.

Covid and America’s political shift really affected our involvement and trust in religious institutions; we were wandering without a home church for several years. We were upset that churches were not addressing and were often embracing anti-Christian values like devaluing people based on race, religion, orientation, and country.

Calvary restored my trust in the church and gave my family a place we could call home.  “All are Welcome,” seems to be a phrase used by so many churches these days, but Calvary truly means it. I was inspired by Calvary’s acceptance of all people without pretense that those same people should change once they’re in the door.

The pillar of “Reason” resonates with my values, but too often has left me feeling like an outsider at previous churches that didn’t value it. This Episcopal pillar is a core foundation of my faith, as it allows my scientific oriented mind to understand Christ and his values based on observation of the world and humanity.

I’m the President of Advantage Structural Engineers and have extensive experience in restoration of old buildings. I love preserving and being in old buildings. I lead a small team at our company to make business decisions. I hope that my leadership and construction experience can be a service to Calvary.

I’m thankful to have been embraced by the people of Calvary, and I’m thankful for Calvary’s unapologetic commitment to all of Christ’s children. I hope to serve to the best of my abilities and build deeper relationships with the Calvary community.

Spenser Shuey

My name is Spenser Shuey. I have attended Calvary since 2007 with my mother, Marlie and stepmother, Tammy. I am involved in the acolyte ministry and have previously been involved with Tender Mercies and Fearless Tweens. I was confirmed Episcopalian in April of 2019.

In my professional life, I work as a 5th grade teacher at Glendale Elementary school in Glendale, Ohio. This job requires me to plan events and lessons, make quick decisions, and collaborate with others.

I am passionate about justice and showing respect for all people. Having attended Calvary for 18 years, I believe there is a strong connection between my faith and the mission of the church. I am deeply committed to the principle that all individuals, regardless of nationality, sexual orientation, or income level deserve equality and freedom from oppression.

I am extremely grateful to be a part of a church community that is so inviting, loving, and supportive. I could not imagine finding a better church to walk with me in my spiritual journey. I am very excited about this opportunity to serve on Calvary’s vestry and will fulfill my roles to the best of my abilities.

Kelsey Logan - Senior Warden

I have been a member of Calvary for 13 years and on the vestry from 2019-2025.I am currently the Senior Warden and would like to continue serving our clergy and the congregation in this role. I am passionate about caring for children and families, both in our congregation and in outreach. I have been teaching in Godly Play since our children were old enough to join. I am deeply invested in Calvary’s health and its connection to our community and appreciate the opportunity to continue serving our church. I have expertise in organizational management, leadership development, and leading change.

My wife Allison and I live in Clifton with our 3 energetic children. My work life as a Sports Medicine physician at Cincinnati Children’s overlaps with my ministry in church and in the community. I work to improve the lives of children and adolescents, and their families, through physical activity and sports, at local and national levels.

Chip Montrose - Junior Warden

I really enjoyed my career in universities, where I had a chance to work in various roles as researcher, educator, and administrator, but life is even better now! My wife Margaret and I live in the Clifton neighborhood, where we are enjoying retirement (since 2020) with our dog and parrot. I am a cradle Episcopalian, although I had decades of sporadic church attendance until my mom and I started attending Calvary together in 2015. The amazing fellowship and worship community kept me at Calvary after her death. Margaret joined Calvary in 2019, and is a member of the choir. At Calvary, I volunteer in worship services (reader, usher) and have served in the vestry for 6 years. After completing a 3-year term as senior warden, last year I served my first year as junior warden. As junior warden, my focus is on supporting our congregation, as well as the church property and buildings that make such a beautiful setting for worship and fellowship.  It is a pleasure to work with our rector and vestry; an amazing team striving to use our resources in the best possible way to support and strengthen Calvary as a welcoming place of faith, comfort, service, and community.
