Baptisms
Baptism is the sacrament by which one becomes a Christian and a member of the Church. All ministry originates in baptism. Therefore, living out one’s baptism is at the heart of our life together.  Holy Baptism at Calvary Church takes place in the context of Sunday morning worship.

We expect that parents meet with a priest to understand fully the promises they will be making on behalf of their children. Adults prepare for baptism over the season of Lent in preparation for baptism at Easter.

Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body, the church. God establishes an indissoluble bond with each person in baptism. God adopts us, making us members of the church and inheritors of the Kingdom of God (BCP, pp. 298, 858). Baptism is the foundation for all future church participation and ministry.

If you are interested in baptism for yourself or for your child, please contact the Rector at allison@calvaryclifton.org.

Weddings

Weddings performed in the church should be both a joyous time and also a reverent act of commitment between those who seek to be married.

The clergy of Calvary Parish officiate marriages for active members of the Episcopal Church.

We require three month’s notice prior to a wedding, and at least one of the parties must be a baptized Christian. Premarital counseling is required by the canons of the Episcopal Church. In the case of a divorced person who wishes to remarry, permission from the Bishop is required. Under no circumstances should any announcement of a wedding at Calvary be made until the couple has had an interview with the priest and the priest consents to officiate.

For more information about weddings at Calvary Church, please contact the Rector at allison@calvaryclifton.org for more information. The wedding guideline form can be found here.
