Honduras Mission Trip 2026: El Hogar

Calvary is planning to send an eight-person mission team to Honduras from July 25–31, 2026, to serve alongside our long-standing mission partner, El Hogar.

El Hogar is a residential school and children’s home located outside Tegucigalpa, Honduras, serving children and young adults who have experienced poverty, family instability, or lack of access to education. El Hogar provides not only housing and meals, but also education, vocational training, spiritual formation, and a stable community in which children can grow and thrive.

Calvary has partnered with El Hogar for more than two decades. Over the years, parishioners have traveled regularly to Honduras to work, learn, and build relationships. Calvary’s support has helped to literally build the school, including dormitories, classrooms, and infrastructure that continues to serve students today. This trip is not about “helping from afar,” but about showing up in humility to serve, listen, and strengthen a relationship rooted in mutual respect and shared faith.

Is God calling you to Honduras?

Mission trips are as much about transformation as they are about service. This experience invites participants into a deeper awareness of God’s presence, global community, and their own call to serve beyond familiar contexts.

You may be a good fit for this trip if you are:

  • Open to adventure and new experiences
  • Curious and eager to serve our neighbors in another country
  • Willing to be flexible and embrace unfamiliar rhythms
  • Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Spiritually curious and open to being changed by the experience

Other helpful charisms for missionaries include humility, patience, adaptability, a spirit of encouragement, and the ability to listen well across cultural differences.

This trip may not be the right fit if you:

  • Have physical limitations that prevent walking long distances or tolerating extreme heat
  • Are unable to sleep in a bunk bed or climb into a vehicle with a large step
  • Cannot tolerate bugs or outdoor living conditions
  • Are unable to subsist on simple meals, such as rice and beans, for a week
  • Cannot tolerate cold showers or extended periods without electricity

These realities are not barriers to faithfulness, but important considerations in discerning whether this particular trip aligns with your gifts and capacity at this time.

If you are interested or simply curious, you are invited to an information session on Sunday, February 22 @10am in Hannaford Hall. We will share more about El Hogar, the logistics of the trip, costs, expectations, and the spiritual preparation involved. Attending the session does not commit you to going, but it may help you discern your next step.

Come and explore whether God may be calling you to travel to Honduras this summer.
