(tenor scholar since September 2022)

When not singing at Calvary Church, what makes up your current life and pursuits (including hobbies or other interests)?
I’m currently studying at the University of Cincinnati CCM majoring in music composition. When I’m not writing new music, I’m going to antique shops, playing older video games, obsessing over aquatic mammals.

Where was your birthplace?
Right here in the Queen City, baby!

Do you have a particular memorable highlight or two from your time at Calvary Church?
Having grown up at Calvary, I have too many memories to count! From attending Sunday school and playing with (and maybe nibbling a bit of) Playdough, to going to IKEA with the youth group, to all the whiffle ball cookouts, and who could forget Pierre! As a scholar, many of my favorite memories have been when we won the amaryllis bulb contest and shared all the KitKats, our end of year celebration outside at the end of last season, and getting to become closer with my fellow scholars.

Please complete this sentence: “In five years, I hope to____?”
Be getting my doctorate!

…and: “In fifteen years, I hope to____”
Still be composing! (Hopefully for a living.)

If you could be another animal (or a plant!) instead of a human, what would you be?
It’s a close call between a seal and an otter, but I think I’ll be a seal. They’re so cute and chunky!

You have been given the remarkable opportunity to invite five people (from any location and time period in world history) to a casual dinner party you will host. Who is on your invitation list?
Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and Eric Whitacre. I think it’d make an interesting discussion!

If you could take an item of yours to the Antiques Roadshow, what would it be?
Ooo that’s a toughie. I’m sure my original copy of Wii Sports could be quite a sought-after item in the far future.

Feel free to add any additional information you’d like to share!
I want to thank everyone who has listened to or compliment both of my psalm chants and my new Trisagion. I am so thankful for the opportunity to write music for Calvary, and I hope I can write even more for you in the future!

Choral Scholars at Calvary provides talented singers, often from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music at UC (CCM), with funding to support their musical development while enriching the church’s worship through high-quality choral singing.
