Laundry Love Update – May 2026

Laundry Love May 2026
Dear Friends,

This evening, 24 families used 49 machines to do 201 loads of laundry. Overall, it was a calm evening at the laundromat, which was in direct contrast to the stormy weather that broke out as we were unloading supplies from the car. Although we were genuinely afraid of getting thoroughly soaked, the storm calmed down very quickly, and we remained safe and dry. Does anyone remember Jesus saying “o ye of little faith,” (Matthew 8:26) to a group of terrified disciples on a storm-tossed boat? Similar but certainly not the same level of fear!

This evening’s gathering was another great example of community building while accomplishing a necessary household task.

In Matthew 25:35, Jesus is telling the righteous “35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Of course, being righteous, the people Jesus is addressing are asking when did they ever do such kindly deeds? We are all familiar with the answer he gives, found in Matthew 25:40: 40The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.

The Laundry Love ministry strives to serve the underserved just as Jesus describes in Matthew 25:40. If you are thinking that you would like to be part of this ministry, please feel entirely welcome to come to the 24 Hour Laundromat on Nixon Street in Clifton, on the fourth Wednesday of the month from approximately 5:45pm until approximately 7:45pm. You are welcome for any amount of time you can spare. There is no expectation for you to stay the entire time. The next Laundry Love gathering will be Wednesday, June 24@5:45pm. See you there!!

In peace and gratitude,

Carol and Jeff
