LUX AETERNA: Faith, Story, and Memory within the Stained-Glass Windows of Calvary Church

Stained Glass
Calvary Church is blessed to have a significant collection of historic stained-glass windows, each of which–over the span of eighty years–was generously gifted to the parish as a memorial.  Of course, for the generation immediately following the construction of the building, the window bays contained simply clear or opaque white glass.  Can you imagine how blindingly bright the former chancel would have been with direct morning sun pouring through the original five clear windows (see the 1888 photo of the interior)?  For the Community Hour at 10 AM on June 21, Dan Young (longtime tenor in the Choir, and resident historian) will join Danny Huri (art enthusiast and stained-glass hobbyist) to provide history of many of Calvary’s stunning windows, along with revolutionary techniques that were applied to their creation.  The artistry of glass virtuoso Louis C. Tiffany is especially well-represented within Calvary Church, but there are many other masterpieces.  Join us for this special presentation!
